Pointy needles and all things evil!

So a re-check for Anna proved nothing big except that the ER docs are retards (big surprise right) The ER docs said "ears are clear. No infection...blah blah..." her pediatrician (who I like and trust very much) says.....there is no way the ER doc got a good look at her ears because they are to goopy to see the ear drum. After cleaning out her ears (and a small rant about the stupid ER docs) she did confirm Annas ears are not infected but now they are at least very clean. A good look over and 40 minutes later she tells me to go across the street to the hospital and get a blood draw. My poor child!! It took two of us to pin her tiny flailing body down and one blood guy to get one tiny vile of blood. The poor girls are is bruised due to the 2 attempts at a draw because the first one her went clear through the vain! Ahhh I am not to happy with our hospital at the moment. I got a call from my doc to confirm what I already suspected that her blood CBC came back totally normal BUT the lab guy broke one of the tube that the second test was going to be ran with and asked if I wanted to go back in for a new blood draw. I quickly said...Umm hell no! She is calling at 8 to check up on us again.

Catheter anyone?

In the pretty world of make believe I would like to tell you my day was blissful....This is obviously not the land of make believe and if I told you my day was blissful I would be a big fat liar!

It all started on a magical day in September....I awoke with the sunrise, gorgeous shades of pink danced in my window...It was so beautiful I ran outside and took a picture of it. This day had the makings of a good one from the get go. After my photo session with the sky I promptly woke up my kiddos for school, still all is well in la la land. Shoes, food, teeth and hair were taken care of by everyone in a very timely fashion and I was off to school at 7:30 with 5 kids in tow (my 4 plus Lauren, the little girl I watch in the mornings and after school) Baby Anna was screaming like holy hell by the time I returned home with only 2 out of the 5 I set off with. This is normal as she hates her car seat so I thought nothing of it. This is when La La Land turned in to Holly Hell Land! If Anna was not sleeping she was screaming ALL DAY LONG! She ate ONE meal all day long. This naturally left my boobs feeling like they were going to explode at any minute. I soaked through breast pad after breast pad because of the pressure building up all day. By 11 everyone was ready for naps, Lincoln was grumpy from the lack of attention I was able to give him, Anna was grumpy due to ......... screaming all day and I was grumpy due to listening to the screaming all day. As we all settled in for a long winters nap I realized it was a half day today (why the fuck do you need half days every other Wednesday anyway!) so my long winters nap turned into a rest-less hour before I had to pack Lincoln and Anna into the car to pick up the kids.

As I waited in line at the school (listening to Anna scream) I was hit with the thought...Why did you reproduce Kate? I was quickly snapped out of my self thrown pity party by the bossy woman who runs the car line waving at me to "scoot up!" and giving me the "are you retarded" look. My daydream quickly turned into " is hit and run really that bad..." I was quickly snapped out of that one by the 4 kids climbing into the car (in case you are doing the math...yes that is one more kid then I dropped off....woo hoo for carpooling!) I proceed to drive to Stefanie's house to drop off Brooklynn in some sort of "mommy fog" where you drive and arrive at your destination safely but don't actually remember how you got there....Ever happen to you? Anywho, (Anna is still screaming by the way!) I returned home, vowing to pay more attention to the drive home then I did to the drive to Stefanie's house, and told the kids to play outside while I tried to calm down Anna. Minutes, turned into hours and before you know it I am stressed beyond belief and partly def from all the screaming. A temp check promptly informs me Anna is at 100.2 and obviously ill in some way. Oh well life must goes on right! So Lauren is pick up at 3:30 and we are off for soccer pictures by 4:45. Anna is still crying and by this point not eating and not peeing. I obviously realize there is something wrong with her and call the on-call doc who tells me to take her in. I am not totally convinced she needs a trip to the ER at this point though. My mind was quickly changed when I realized her soft spot was sunken in. Any mom knows at this point you go in whether you like it or not. An hour later they are catheterizing my poor 2 month old! Not to mention the 70 attempt at getting her oxygen level. The nurse claims faulty machines and I claim......well what does it matter what I claim....her oxygen turned out to be 98 so thats all that matters!

To make a long story slightly shorter she had slightly elevated white blood cell count, running a culture to check for a bladder infection and Anna is at home now finally sleeping in her swing! She will need to be re-checked tomorrow but I am hopeful that tomorrow will prove nothing is wrong with her.

Thank Yous: To Kitty for dinner because making food for myself was impossible today (or any other day for that matter) Stef for staying at the hospital with me and "Dutch Brother Chic" for giving me my coffee for free because she could hear Anna screaming and felt bad for me. Without you three I would not have survived the day!
Oh and buy Play Silks!

Why I am here.

So last night I laid in bed for hours just thinking. (This can be either very productive or very dangerous depending on the topic I am thinking about at the time.) I decided I needed a plan. I started out with a two year plan. Whats the plan you ask?! ..........I am not 100% sure yet to be quite honest. I know I want to have a studio of sorts one day. A place of dance and music. A place of art and family. A place where friends can gather and relax and enjoy each others company. I envisioned little tables for 2 or 3 filled with laughter, coffee and good friends (3 of my most favorite things) Weekly mommy play groups where kids can experiment with music and run with flowing golden Play Silks streaming behind them. A place where my dearest friends can learn to dance, do yoga, where couples desperate to reconnect try there hand at salsa, where there are colors and smells that delight the senses and tickle your soul. I want it so bad its not funny. Its this little internal drive I feel to give back to people what my friends, children and family have gave to me......a little hope on a day when nothing goes your way, laughter when crying seems like the only option and freedom from the overwhelming tasks of the day.

So with that said how do I make it happen........some kind of business management would probably be nice, If I plan on teaching dance I must become a much better dancer, Shedding the last 10 pounds from Anna (thanks baby!) will go a long way in making me more confident in dance and other movement art forms, I want to grow The Purple Tangerine to the point where people love Play Silks as much as Stef and I do!

I am blogging so that someone out there in this big world can help hold me accountable for my dreams and desires. I am asking for help staying on track and motivation to push myself and grow. So...who's with me?!
